Are you throwing away marketing dollar to market to a unresponsive market? Why do you want to do that? Giving fliers, advertise in places where no one will response to your advertisement.
You will want to advertise to a responsive market to effectively leverage on your marketing effort. Determine your target market to fully feel the power of marketing.
It seems to be a common sense thing to select the people you want to sell to. You can’t possibly sell to everyone in the world. However, a common sense thing is not common at all. Many business owners fall into this trap (including myself) of marketing to everyone. Advertise in a non-responsive market.
It was said that 1% response rate is consider the norm. But why settle for 1% when you can have more? You can generate more responses if you advertise in a responsive market.
For example most business people in the health industry thought that their products is the best. Since it’s health supplements, everyone must need it, therefore, everyone should buy.
It may be true that everyone needs it, but let’s face the reality; not everyone wants it. Only the health conscious will take note of it. Targetting the health conscious should give them the best response rate.
Determine your target market is the first step. What’s next after you determine your market?
Find them! Where is their hang out area? Be there to talk to these people. Promote your business in these places. You can be sure to get your best responses.
I made mistakes of hitting on the untargetted market. The response was pathetic. Stop your marketing effort now until you determine where is you market.
