March 2008

I’m very fortunate to discover my purpose in this world. I love what I am doing that is to inspire human to realize their potential. I consider myself very lucky to discover my purpose accidentally. Ya, my mentors will say there is no accidents. Ha, ha.

While I am fortunate in this, there are many who are not as fortunate as me. Some are lost, some are searching, some don’t even know what is a purpose. Well, I’ve been asking myself how do I help others to find their purpose so they could also be happier and more fulfilled in their life. The more I asked myself, the more I am confused.

Even if someone has found their purpose, how can we know for sure that is really what he is here for. Honestly, we don’t know.

A thought came in just 10 minutes ago. While I am not sure how to help you to find your purpose, I do know what is keeping you away from your purpose.

It is the man made environment that is keeping you away from your purpose. Human has created many illusions to keep you busy,so that you can’t find your own purpose.

Humans created this useless term called politics. Politicians does nothing but to create more policies to trap us into believing that they are a better group of people. Politicians then create a whole lot of illusions so that instead of finding our purpose, we are made to chase after those illusions.

Then there are the ballooned perceived value of certain materials. We are made to believe that we got to have those to match our society status. Therefore we are thriving hard to chase for money, so that we can buy those things.

I’m not implying that money is not important. Money is important and I love money. The difference is: would you want to know your purpose with money flowing to you or struggle to chase after money without any purpose?

Some friends of mine are on the verge on finding their purpose, but gave up because of social pressure. Not enough money, family commitment etc. In the end, they gave up the journey of looking, they gave up the chance of creating a unique destiny for themselves. They chose to continue walking with the rest of the sheep.

It is true that these reasons exist, and it’s not easy on the path of true purpose. But I know it, once you’ve gone through that tough stage, it’s is going to get easier and easier. You will begin to feel happier.

Those who begin their journey of purpose be prepared for social pressure. Your friends will start calling you rebel, your family will call you mad man. Because you are moving away from the social norms, you are moving away from them.

You may feel poorer in the beginning, but trust that the Universe will take care of you. The Universe will not let you fall as long as you are on the right path, as long as you do not give up.

You may start to quieten your mind, disregard all social norms and pressure. Ask yourself, if you have all the time and money in this world, what will you be doing? Can that contribute to mankind?

Yeah! After a 6 months break from soccer, yesterday I re-start my engine on my favourite game. With a 6 months break, my fitness has really gone down. With only 10 minutes into the game, I was panting like a dog. But that is not going to stop me. I kept telling myself to push on, continue running for the ball.

I have to re-build my stamina again, want to keep myself as fit as possible. Somehow I did injured my ankle slightly when I challenged another player for the ball. It’s not that serious till I am unable to walk but can feel the tension on that ankle area.

Another wonderful thing is Liverpool won 3-0 against Newcastle on Saturday night. 4 consecutive convincing wins; that is the form of Liverpool now. I hope that they can maintain this form, give something for the fans to cheer about.

I was really satisfied with the football game, oh, I just love this game.

These 50 seconds could change the life of someone else. Enjoy.

I am thankful that I am breathing now.
I am thankful that I woke up this morning.
I am thankful that I have food on the table.
I am thankful that my legs are still strong.
I am thankful that I have supporting friends.
I am thankful that I have a loving family.
I am thankful that money flows to me.
I am thankful that abundance awaiting me.
I am thankful that I am adding value to others.
I am thankful that I love my work.
I am thankful that I can inspire others to be better.
I am thankful that my brain can think.
I am thankful that mentors are around me to guide.
I am thankful that I have more than enough.
I am thankful for everything, good or bad.

Trust the Universe, have faith that good things will unfold. After 4 days of hiking with CHIJ girls which is a leadership program, I received a call from Benny who is from Training Team, asking if I’m available to do a workshop for Singapore Police Force (SPF).

The timing of this call was superb.

Firstly, during the 4 days of hiking, no one could contact me most of the time because I’m in the vegetation where there was no reception. If he was to call me any earlier, he won’t be able to get me.

Second, the timing of the call is not on those days where I’m doing the hike, it was on the last day of the hike when I was on my way home - a time where I have the time to think about it.

This must be the work of the Universe, arranging the superb timing. Thank you for blessing me.

You have a choice to choose to be positive or negative. You can decide think positively or negatively, you control your mind. It also means there are two sides to all things. Look at a curve, it can be called convex or concave; depending which side you are looking from.

Of course you can have negative thoughts. There is nothing wrong with having negative thoughts. Similar to the half-filled or half-empty analogy, both positive or negative thoughts are correct. The difference could be which one serves you.

You can choose to be negative, start whining, complaining and grumping. This will affect your feelings and body reaction. You feel lousy and your body moves unwillingly.

Or you can choose to be positive, think of fun, growth and challenges. Your feelings and body will change accordingly as well.

Everyone thinks of negative thoughts, but the successful people are able to switch it quickly into a positive one. Therefore they are able to act on it faster, learn the lessons, grow from it and become a better person who can solve bigger problems.

If you have to ride through some waves which you have no way to escape, why not think positively, enjoy the process. Anyhow you can’t get away with going through it. Instead of going through it miserably, you can choose to go through it in a different way. It is your choice.

For the past 4 days I was supporting David for a interesting leadership training. Bringing the CHIJ girls to a hike. The distance is probably about 15 km. It takes about 4-5 hours to complete the hike from MacRitchie Reservior to Bukit Timah Hill.

4 days, 4 different groups from 4 different classes. It was an eye opener even though I have been in school training industry for 4 years. I discover all classes have different class culture and behaviour.

Can you imagine it’s the same hike, route, distance; but they behaved differently. I must say the hike can be toughed for some girls. Still girls in different classes behave very different.

Some classes started whining when the hike started, but some classes had so much fun throughout the hike. I did wonder if the route is too tough, but I know it’s not.

In day 1, my group, they named themselves Wonder-Girls; was lost for 2 hours. They made the 2 wrong turns, and I refused to sound it out. Interestingly, they sticked together with no complains. They came out with a group cheer, had a down-hill cheer, and a wonder-girls clap. They are enjoying every moment.

Another day, I had this group who starts complaining from checkpoint 2 all the way to the end. Meaning to say, they brought out all the negative comments for 4 hours. Imagine their mind keeps going on with the negative stuffs, what will it do to this girls? I believe this had nothing to do with the school, it got to do with their upbringing and the people they mixed with.

Through this hike, once again it proves that what happened inside is much more important than what happened outside. What you think affects how you feel and affect what you got. When you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.
