An Entrepreneur’s Journey

2 weeks of intensity! We had our Youth Success Boot Camp (YSBC)for the Primary and Secondary school level for the past 2 weeks.

It was awesome! We had a bunch of awesome kids who participated at 100%. Young lives were being transformed in the program.

These kids took up the challenge that they never faced before. Doubts arose in Day 1. Many didn’t think they can make it. Whining were flying through the air. But on Day 5, I saw confidence in everyone of them. They completed the toughest challenge in the program. It takes huge mental strength for someone to complete it. And these kids did it. I am so proud of them.

These kids not only learn more about themselves, gain tremendous confidence, they learned new strategies and skills to excel in school and life. They are so committed to do well in their life that some did things that they will never done in their whole life.

I want to congrats these kids who graduated from YSBC. This is only the beginning, your life will keep on improving.

Also I want to thank you Vasu and Austin who supported us. Your presence really allow me to recover from a lost of voice. Thank you guys!

I’m a fan of Canon D by Pachelbel. I’m always looking for the different version of this piece.

I found nice one, peaceful ones, high pitch ones, rock ones. And I found this – funny one. It was a good performance, and they performed it in a very light-hearted way. A different emotion of Canon D.

Most of the times the performer exudes peace, love or sad into the music. But this is fun. It confirm one thing, music and facilitating a training is the same. The content itself is dead, but the performer or facilitator brings meaning to it.

I gave a talk years ago, and a student asked me, “What do you think makes a successful entrepreneur?” I was wondering, isn’t it obvious? On a second thought, I realized that the audience are not entrepreneurs but want to be entrepreneurs. They didn’t move forward to become one because of fear. The fear of whether they can make it as an entrepreneur, the fear of do they possess the traits to be an successful entrepreneur.

With that in mind, I understand why that question came out. It was like the Universe present that question for everyone. The Universe wants me to support these people, so I will.

Last weekend I was at Entrepreneur Action Program (EAP) doing my review. I attended EAP more than 5 years ago, going back there to re-cap the experience and information is familiar and unfamiliar.

Familiar because some of the activities and information are similar, but Jerome and Wendy added a lot more information which causes the unfamiliar part of it.

In any case, EAP is such a powerful network where you really don’t know who you will meet there. Just like when I was there for my review, I did not expect anything. The Universe likes to play joke, when you least expected, it gives you.

Abrial who graduated from the last batch of the program, and was helping for this batch; chatted with me during lunch. Suddenly he asked for a training proposal for his organization. And of course I am willing to provide him a proposal, and deal done.

In business, having a network that can support you helps to build your business more efficiently. At the same time, you must add value to the network. The principle of give and receive applies here too. Also a huge distinction for me, JUST SHOW UP.

It was very interesting the way I got the news of the bankruptcy of Lehman Brother.

I was out for a meeting early in the morning yesterday, so I didn’t read the newspaper. Right after the meeting, I went for a drink, switched on my laptop, check the stock market. HOLY COW!!!! Did the stock market crashes? So many companies are trading at a discount.

Seeing the huge discount, I cannot stop the buying bug in me. I have to load up on some of those companies that I’ve shortlisted.

In the afternoon, went for EAP preview. Sylvia commented that the stock market must be in bad shape. I took the opportunity to ask her what actually happened.

Sylvia: You mean you don’t know?
Me: I didn’t read the news today.
Sylvia: Lehman gone bankrupt.
Me: WHAT??? I thought Barclay is buying them?
Sylvia: No, they walked away from the deal.
Sylvia: And Merill Lync is bought over by Bank of America.
Sylvia: And AIG is in deep deep trouble.

At this point of time, Clive came in.

Clive: And HP is retrenching 24,000 of its staff.
Me: WOW! No wonder today stock market plunge.

With these news, suddenly there are tons of opportunities around. I’m sure there will be more coming.

Last weekend has been a fun, amazing and self-discovery weekend. Finally the days that I’ve been waiting for has come. The value investing course or the name of the course is called Millionaire Investor Program (MIP).

Ken and Clive has done a great job sharing their knowledge with us. The biggest take away for me is discovery of my investment behaviour or rather my behaviour in business as well; and understanding those ratio and numbers in the company annual report.

With the knowledge that I got out of MIP, I’ve found one strong growth company last night. In fact, I read up this company a month ago. That time, I didn’t thing it is that great. I picked up its annual report again last night and found out that I almost miss a gem here.

This morning, I sold my loser, and put the money into this new gem that I found.

I think MIP should be a 3 days program instead of 2 days. It seems not enough for many of us. There are a lot more value that can be added into the program. I believe in the near future, it will be a 3 days program.

New program to expand our business. Our core program used to be “Spirit of Enterprise Program” sharing business concept with the youth. In the time now, we are moving out of this “entrepreneurship” box, we are creating something new.

The tentative name for this 3 days program is called – Success Mastery.

I am done with the initial program outline. There is still a lot to do, like marketing letter, brochures, content etc. I am aiming to finish them by next week. Then another week to tighten everything.

I’m not in my best form recently. Facing with new challenges and perturbation raise some self doubt in me.

I know I have to persists on to overcome all these challenges, that is how I can grow. But going through the process can be over heating. There are times that I thought maybe I should choose an easy way out, but that will mean that I’m defeated.

No, I don’t like losing, I don’t like to be defeated. Choosing the easy way out means defeated forever. I’m not someone who can be knocked out without throwing a few punches to my opponents.

Today is a new day to throw some punches.
