No war is won alone! No successful business is built alone! All great organizations grow with a team. And even your personal development grows when you have a team.

Our company is growing. There are many ideas to expand the company. There are a lot more workload now than few years ago. We are in the process of searching for new team members.

But this post is not about expanding my company. This post is about expanding myself. I am blessed to be surrounded by people who asked more of me. This group of people is always pushing me to the edge, giving me feedback, helping me to improve.

The result of this is my income has gone up 80% in the first quarter of this year. Really, what hit me was the growth that I had. The clarity that I gained, and the person whom I’ve become. This personal growth is more valuable than the increase of income.

This growth cannot happen if I’m alone. This growth happen with a team. The team sees my blind spots, they contribute ideas, they get me to do things that I may not usually do.

I am thankful for having such great people around me. Thank you Universe for sending all these angels into my life.

March was an exciting month. It seems that the month of March flies. With all the busy-ness, it’s already the 2nd week of March. And there are many tasks to complete, many events to attend and many trainings to conduct.

With all the business stuffs going on, the Universe threw a huge tennis ball being wrap around with thorns onto me. It’s not extremely painful, it’s just a test of integrity and my reaction.

I past the integrity test. There is nothing to hide, as I am totally clear of myself. And I did nothing wrong.

However the moment I exercised integrity, I might also be labelled “Betrayal” on my back. There is a sting of sadness coming from this incident. My sadness wasn’t from the labeling, but from incident that affected the team.

All along I wasn’t affected by the whole incident. I knew very clearly I stood by integrity. When others reacted to that incident, it’s their issue to deal with.

But why is there such a huge reaction?

Having an abundance mindset may be a hard concept to grasp for some. That’s because from young, we heard “money is not enough” from the adults. This statement builds a mentality of “not enough” and we have to fight to get what we want.

It drives the behaviour of never ending chase of money, possessions, love etc. Because we are afraid there won’t be enough for everyone. There is nothing wrong with chasing after money, I do enjoy having more money. However, I don’t feel good if I have to hurt someone to have more.

Miracles happened when I shifted to an abundance mindset. Knowing that there is enough for everyone, knowing that I do not need to beat others to the ground so that I can have more; create flow in my life.

Awareness of surrounding – because in business, one still got to know the ground.

While having awareness, I don’t shake the trees or chop them down. I just plant my own trees. I do my own things, reminding myself that I do not need to hurt anyone in the process of creating wealth.

On top of that, I concentrate on adding more values to humanity. Knowing that when I give, I shall receive as well; which is the Universal Principles.

I plant the trees, knowing that the trees will grow to be strong. I just add value, knowing that there are enough to go around. Life is in flow with this mindset. I don’t end up in never ending chase. Instead, I attracted good things right now.

Good things unfold itself in front of me. Right now, I’m just following along, knowing that it will bring me to the place that I needed to be. There’s no struggle, tension or discontentment. Everything is perfect. Everything belongs to where it should be.

Most people will always be looking forward to weekends. It’s a time to shop and party for them. I looked forward to weekend as well. But I no longer sink myself into parties. My weekend is to add value to many people. The more value I add to more people, the more “drunk” I’ll be.

Last Saturday, we were conducting the first Youth Success Seminar in 2010. We are blessed with 80 parents. I’m thankful that I’m able to add value, share experiences with the parents. We had created lots of publicity and interest on the Youth Success Boot Camp (YSBC) that will be held in June.

This morning, I received call from 1 parent who will be enrolling his daughter into YSBC. There will be many more parents who will get back to us. But what really is important is, we can work with the parents to support their child.

On Sunday, we were conducting the coaching program for our graduates of YSBC. Another day of adding value to the kids. The kids was talking about a YSBC outing or dinner. I had an indescribable feeling that all that we’ve done, isn’t it for this moment? Seeing the kids having bond with each other.

Furthermore some kids told us that their results improved. They realized they have not been doing their best before attending the camp. I was at a lost of words.

This is what one of them wrote:

“In YSBC, I learnt that we can control events and realised that my life had been not so successful up to this point because I did not take charge and have the initiative to change myself or my environment.

After YSBC, I applied the knowledge that I gained and halved my L1R5 mark. I hope to reduce it further with what I have learnt from this camp.”

With this letter, I knew I had to continue doing this work. I am very blessed to have a team that support this work with me. I am blessed that the Universe continues to provide.

Some photos from last Saturday.

Since attended Money & You six years ago, my understanding about business is add value comes before making a profit. I know this may be different from what the school is advocating.

Based on the experience I had with schools that teach entrepreneurship, their perception about business is innovative ideas then raise funds then make money.

School are more interested in innovation. There is nothing wrong with that in their context. Creating something innovative allows them to showcase to others, it helps them with their “marketing”. Yes, school even Government schools have to promote their brand nowadays.

Innovation is something measurable, tangible. It’s all about seeing a physical thing. As long as it’s create a “WOW” feeling, the product has a chance to win some awards for the school.

However, inside me I know exactly which is more important – adding value or innovation. I don’t discredit innovation, I feel it is important in any businesses. However my definition of innovation is different from what the school is looking for.

A tweak in the business system to boost its efficiency can be innovation. While the school perception of innovation means creating a totally new product.

Anyhow, adding value takes first position in business. How can I add more value to others? That’s why we are creating more programs to support people who are looking for a change. To date we created two other programs, the Money & You Ambassador Program and Money & You Master Keys Program.

My further distinction last week about adding value is to add value with higher purpose. Having that in mind, it creates a lot more drive and motivation in me. Not only that, it attracts many great things into my life. The Universe blessed me with great results, unlimited opportunities, aligned teammates.

When I put my mind into adding value first, money comes along with it. Do that for your business, there will be a shift in the way you see your business.

Start 2010 with a nice holiday at Langkawi with my lovely wife. We feel so blessed while most people started work on Monday, but we have a choice for holiday. We were exploring the island, getting lost, watched eagles, seen beautiful creation of God, snorkel, swim with the sharks etc.

It was even better when I got emails of more training engagements filling up my calendar. This is a huge blessing from the Universe. I am very thankful.

With addition to all these good things, I got lots of AHAs in the area of spirituality. Right now, I’m in sync with the Universe and going with the flow. It was a beautiful time of my life. Actually, it was beautiful all the time, but I wasn’t conscious to be aware of it.

When it rains, it’s beautiful; when it’s sunny, it’s beautiful. The moment I see things in this perspective, blessings flow, good things happened.

During our Langkawi trip, it’s sunny when we were out to the sea, and rains when we were indoor. Isn’t that fascinating? In our Sentosa trip, it happened too.

The Rain send shower of blessings
The Sun send ray of life
Black days send streams of strength
Bright days send light of celebration
In any days joy lies there to be found.

Year 2009 is coming to an end. This is the year of intensive learning. This is a year of being adventurous. This is a year of getting out of comfort zone.

At the end of 2008, I put down 10 resolutions in my notebook. To achieve them requires learning, adventurous and getting uncomfortable. I didn’t achieve all of them, but I manage to get 5 of them done. Great job, Joe!!

One of the major breakthroughs was to launch the Youth Success Boot Camp (YSBC). Just this alone requires the whole team to move beyond comfort zone. This is a case of stepping up a few levels, gaining distinction in the process.

Doing YSBC got us really uncomfortable, filled us with the emotion of fear; but we did it anyway. In the process, we made lots of mistakes, learning experiences and wrong decisions.

At the same time, we gained distinction, got wiser and improved. This couldn’t be done with the support of many friends. Their time and effort is much appreciated.

Beside YSBC, another adventure was to pick up the Money & You Program. Working with Douglas, Magic & Tin to form Wealth Work Pte Ltd to promote this life-changing program in Singapore again.

It’s great to promote Money & You again. Connected with Money & You circle again is amazing, so filled with love and support. However, there is work to be done, lots of it. The team generated innovative ideas to be implemented next year. So I’m looking for a great 2010 ahead.

Most action plans of 2010 has been worked out. This month is a time of relaxed and planning. Also I have been going through a spiritual process this month. Understanding more about myself, discovering the existence of EGO and realizing those LIES in my head; allow me to see beyond.

To see beyond judgement, to see beyond right and wrong, to see beyond good and bad. 2010 will be a year to feel love, peace and abundance. The intention is sent, moving towards the new resolution 2010, and enjoying every action in the NOW.

Completing the Youth Success Boot Camp (YSBC) gave me an indescribable feeling. Seeing the transformation of the kids brought tears in my eyes.

This is a week of recuperating, get my fitness level and energy level back. Also a time to catch up with the back end work of YSBC. Most importantly, a time of reflection.

Catching up books that I have to finish – one of them was A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. It is a book that I couldn’t complete after 2 tries of reading it. I was always stuck on chapter 2 and couldn’t go on anymore. Finally, this week, I’m already half way through. Celebrate!

This time, the book spoke to me. Probably in the past, there was too much thoughts (EGO). After YSBC, I’m able put everything aside, fully be at the present for this book.

I am me! I have not fully understood this statement. At least not spiritually. When I stripped off all those titles, awards, identity, I will be left with ME. Take away entrpereneur, speaker, trainer, award winning entrepreneur, son, husband; then who am I?

The social environment doesn’t help in discovering who am I. In any networking session, the first question is “what do you do?” My answer is “I inspire kids to excel.” “Oh you are a trainer?”

A trainer? That’s what I do, that’s not who I am. The Ego will always want to attach itself to all those titles. Unfortunately the social environment takes great pride in honouring those titles.

The question is still, who am I? How do I strike a balance between the social environment and my environment? I am still searching for the answer.

2 weeks of intensity! We had our Youth Success Boot Camp (YSBC)for the Primary and Secondary school level for the past 2 weeks.

It was awesome! We had a bunch of awesome kids who participated at 100%. Young lives were being transformed in the program.

These kids took up the challenge that they never faced before. Doubts arose in Day 1. Many didn’t think they can make it. Whining were flying through the air. But on Day 5, I saw confidence in everyone of them. They completed the toughest challenge in the program. It takes huge mental strength for someone to complete it. And these kids did it. I am so proud of them.

These kids not only learn more about themselves, gain tremendous confidence, they learned new strategies and skills to excel in school and life. They are so committed to do well in their life that some did things that they will never done in their whole life.

I want to congrats these kids who graduated from YSBC. This is only the beginning, your life will keep on improving.

Also I want to thank you Vasu and Austin who supported us. Your presence really allow me to recover from a lost of voice. Thank you guys!

This is from one of the kids:

Thanks for teaching me for these 5 days. I appreciate it & will apply it in my daily life. I’ve learned with determination and perseverance, I can achieve results that I thought. Thank you very much!

How do you build a successful business? It’s an answer that many aspiring entrepreneurs want to know. How can you be successful when you start you business?

After six years of running my business, I had my learning experiences. Had my wins and losses. Had other opportunities that opened up, tested them, some are good while some are not good.

However, I never deviant from my core business which is training and education. During networking sessions, I will always introduce myself as the person who is in education, inspiring youth to excel.

Even though I may have other businesses, but I don’t talk about it so much. Because I want to build only one image in the mind of others.

This is extremely important as you want to be seen as an expert, a master of something. There’s a saying, “Jack of all trades, master of none.” People wants to work with masters.

Consistency build trust. Imagine you tell others that you are running a events business, and six months later you change to a advertising business. The same people you told to will start to wonder if you will change again six months later. Turn it around, would you want to give any business to someone who is inconsistency?

There was once someone asked me about this particular friend. I can only answer him, “I’m not so sure what his business is right now?” That’s the effect of inconsistency.

Tell people about what your business at consistently – the same business over and over again. So whenever someone thinks about that industry, they think about you. It’s about getting into that person’s mind.

Tell everyone you met the same thing about your business. It’s going to help your business, making you the expert.
